Whether you’ve recently installed artificial grass or are pondering the possibility, you may be asking yourself the question: “How long will my artificial grass last?” While artificial grass from FieldTurf Landscape is built to last, its lifespan can be influenced by several factors, including the quality of the grass, installation methods, footfall, pet usage, and weather conditions. We’re taking a deep dive into these factors and providing some time-tested tips to maximize the lifespan of your synthetic grass plot.

Quality Matters: The Role of Materials in Artificial Grass Longevity

It goes without saying that the durability of the product you invest in greatly impacts its lifespan. High-quality synthetic grass, constructed from durable materials, can last for several years – some even up to 20 years or more! However, using cheap or lower-quality materials can considerably decrease the lifespan down to just a few years. Therefore, homeowners must prioritize the quality of their artificial turf for a longer-lasting green oasis.

Paving the Way to Longevity: The Impact of Installation

Another key determinant is the installation process. Poorly installed turf is more likely to exhibit issues such as wrinkles, seams, drainage problems, and general wear and tear, all of which can put a premature end to its lifespan. At FieldTurf Landscape, we stress the importance of a professional installation done right the first time, ensuring your artificial grass stands the test of time.

Walk the Talk: The Effect of Foot Traffic

The amount of foot traffic your lawn receives is another important factor to consider. Lawns that play host to frequent backyard parties, playful children, or fitness routines may wear out faster. For such lawns, choosing a higher quality, more durable grass, and ensuring regular maintenance can help counteract the wear and tear.

The Paw Factor: Pets and Your Artificial Lawn

For pet owners, pet usage is an unavoidable factor that can influence lawn longevity. Dogs digging, scratching, or doing their business, can potentially damage your artificial grass. However, with proper pet waste management and occasional cleaning, you can help maintain your pet-friendly artificial lawn and prevent damage.

Extended Life: Maintenance Tips for Your Artificial Grass

While artificial grass requires less maintenance than natural grass, it’s not completely maintenance-free. Basic care practices include regular cleaning, occasional brushing to keep the blades upright, and promptly repairing minor damages. Leave a little breathing space for your artificial grass during harsh weather, follow a regular cleaning regimen, and you’ll keep your grass looking greener for longer.

GOLF

For golf fans nothing quite beats the luxury of having your own putting green in your backyard. It provides a convenient spot for practice, reduces your trips to the golf course, and offers an impressive outdoor leisure space for friends and family. While a natural grass putting green might be your initial dream, it’s always a good idea to consider the long-term costs and maintenance. That’s where an artificial grass putting green steps in, offering you significant long-term cost savings and convenience.

The Initial Investments: Purchase, Installation, and Landscaping Costs

Before beginning our discussion on cost savings, it’s essential to understand the upfront costs associated with installing an artificial grass putting green. The initial expenditure primarily includes the purchase of the artificial grass, labor and installation costs, and additional landscaping or grading if required. These costs can vary significantly based on factors like the size of the green, the quality of the artificial turf selected, and the existing state of your landscape. It’s important to remember that though these costs might seem substantial at first, they become considerably worthwhile when contrasted with maintaining a real grass green.

Maintenance Costs: The Real Burden of Real Grass Greens

Real grass golf greens, while beautiful, demand intensive maintenance. To retain the premium condition and aesthetic appeal, they require frequent mowing, watering, fertilizing, aeration, and pest control. Ownership of mowers and other tools adds an additional financial burden. Moreover, the maintenance also demands a significant investment of your time, a valuable resource for all. Let’s not forget about the rising water bills and seasonal changes that can cause issues with grass greens.

Low Maintenance, High Savings: The Appeal of Artificial Grass Putting Greens

In stark contrast to the heavy maintenance of real greens, artificial grass putting greens require minimal upkeep. There’s no need for mowing, watering, or fertilizing, creating instant savings on water bills, fertilizer costs, and time spent on maintenance. This means more time to enjoy your putting green and less time, energy, and cost put into maintaining it. Plus, you won’t need to deal with pesky seasonal pests that may damage your green, translating into savings on pest control measures.

A Consistent Play Surface: The Practical Benefits

Beyond cost savings, artificial grass putting greens also stand out for their consistency and reliability. Unlike real grass that requires reseeding, patching up, and is vulnerable to weather changes, artificial grass greens provide a smooth, consistent playing surface year-round, offering greater value and convenience. Regardless of the season or weather, your putting green stays ready for a round of golf.

A Boost for Your Home’s Value

Homes with private putting greens often hold greater appeal to potential home buyers, particularly those who are golf enthusiasts. An artificial grass putting green, with its low maintenance and high convenience factor, can add to your home’s value and distinction. This increased appeal can pay dividends when it’s time to sell, potentially providing another significant long-term financial advantage.

Consider the Long-Term Savings: Choose Artificial Grass Putting Greens

Installing an artificial grass green is an investment that pays off over time with reduced operational costs, increased home value, and the pleasant experience of having a dedicated golfing space in your backyard.

At FieldTurf Landscape, we’re here to help you explore your options, provide professional advice, and ensure a perfect end-product tailor-made to your liking. POOL

Gorgeous green grass looks stunning around a sparkling pool. But while natural grass offers that iconic summer vibe, it comes with downsides that can turn pool upkeep into a chore.

Constant mowing, muddy mess from grass clippings, and overwatering are some issues faced by homeowners. For high-traffic and high-maintenance areas like pool surroundings, artificial grass serves as a practical alternative.

How Artificial Turf Solves Common Poolside Grass Problems

Wet natural grass and pool surroundings simply don’t mix well. Grass clippings and fallen leaves easily spread through pool water, clogging filters and making cleaning a headache. Excess water from the pool splashing onto grass can also lead to soft, muddy areas.

In addition, areas around pools get heavy foot traffic, especially during summer parties, leading to unsightly worn grass patches. Natural grass also needs frequent mowing, fertilizing and watering to stay lush, adding to maintenance duties.

In contrast, artificial grass around pools is impervious to these issues. With no mowing or watering needed, it stays fresh-looking year-round with minimal care. Artificial blades are designed to look tidy, without loose blades scattering.

Being a synthetic surface, artificial turf around pools won’t become muddy or slip-prone when wet. Its firm texture also prevents dents from regular use.

Advanced Drainage Prevents Waterlogging and Odor

Poor drainage leads to one of the biggest problems with natural grass around pools – waterlogging. Excess moisture leads to mushy areas prone to forming unpleasant odors from decomposition– all of which artificial grass can easily solve.

Specifically, FieldTurf Landscape’s artificial grass features proprietary MaxxFlow drainage technology. With an impressive drainage rate of 30 inches of water per hour, MaxxFlow allows  complete permeability.

Rain, splashes and spills drain through swiftly, avoiding the odor issues, mosquito breeding risks and muddy patches common with waterlogged sod.

Low-Maintenance & Safer Pool Surroundings

Natural grass needs frequent mowing, watering, fertilizing and aerating – easily doubling weekly maintenance work. Artificial turf trims maintenance down dramatically.

Without growth or need for watering, mowing isn’t required. Draining systems reduce waterlogging risks. The hassles of clearing lawn clippings are gone – no more bits of grass drifting into the pool.

Artificial Grass Poolside FAQs

  • What about pool chemicals – are they safe for artificial grass?

Artificial grass blades are UV-protected and designed to be durable. Pool chemicals like chlorine and bromine don’t affect their quality when used as directed.

  • Does artificial grass get too hot for bare feet around the pool?

Not with today’s advanced systems from FieldTurf Landscape. For instance, we use special infill and grass blade designs to maintain comfortable temperatures. The perforations in the blades allow airflow and drainage to keep the surface cooler than hardscape like concrete and tile.

  • Is artificial grass safe for kids and pets around pools?

Absolutely. The sturdy, slip-resistant texture makes artificial grass safe even when wet. There are no risks of loose debris like fallen leaves or clippings. Advanced backing systems ensure the turf stays firmly in place, and the uniform surface prevents trip hazards.

Infill may be invisible, but it’s absolutely critical for putting green artificial grass. This crucial material fills the blades of synthetic turf to enable the look, feel, and performance that make today’s faux lawns and home putting greens nearly indistinguishable from the real thing.

But what exactly is infill and what types are out there? We’re answering those questions and mor

What Is Infill and Why Do You Need It?

It refers to the material that fills the turf backing to the top of the grass blades. It’s usually fine-grained sand or granules of rubber, minerals, or organic materials like cork.

It plays several roles in artificial grass installations:

  • Weighs Down Putting Green Turf – It provides weight and stability to the artificial blades to keep them upright. Without infill the blades would easily crush down and mat, especially if you play on your putting green often.
  • Resilience – The infill allows the blades to rebound after use for consistent cushioning. This enhances the natural feel underfoot and makes sure it’s ready for your next round of practice.
  • Support – It offers support to the turf backing for durability. It helps protect against compaction and damage, all of which can affect the performance of backyard putting greens.
  • Aesthetics – Infill helps produce a lush, vibrant landscape that convincingly mimics real grass.

As you can see, infill isn’t just filler—it affects everything from the look and feel of artificial grass to its performance.

Common Types of Infill for Artificial Grass

From silica sand to colorful rubber granules, it comes in many forms. The right type for your project depends on factors like budget, pets, climate, and primary use. Here are some examples:

  • Silica Sand

Silica sand infill is a popular choice for lawns and general landscaping. This natural sand is non-staining, affordable, and provides stability and support to artificial turf. It also allows for efficient drainage.

  • Coated Silica Sand

Acrylic coating helps reduce compaction while retaining the affordability and drainage of silica infill. It also minimizes dust for a cleaner landscape. The coating comes in various hues, like green, tan, or brown, to blend with grass colors.

  • Organic Infill

For an eco-friendly, natural option, organic infills like cork, coconut fibers, or walnut shells are growing in popularity. Though pricier, organic infill stays cooler, resists compacting, deters bugs, and reduces static. It can also be replenished more easily than sand or rubber.

The right type of infill for your putting green still depends on the specifics of your project and we can discuss that during our call.

Turning a drab patio into an inviting green oasis is easy with artificial grass. But simply rolling out a turf rug won’t cut it. To make fake grass for patio areas work and last for years, the installation requires multiple layers done right. Here’s why:

What Makes Installing Artificial Grass on Patios So Complex?

Patios present a unique challenge for artificial grass installation. Unlike lawns, patios start out as hard surfaces like concrete, tile, or brick. Their boundaries also tend to be more constrained, with furniture, plants, and other structures coming into play.

To address that, we adjust our installation process to include elements like:

Fixing Imperfections on Patio Surfaces

Concrete, tile and wood patios don’t automatically provide a flat, stable base for artificial grass. Any cracks, holes or uneven areas need to be fixed before synthetic turf is laid out.

This ensures the artificial grass isn’t installed over bumps or sloped sections that will eventually appear on the surface. Smooth, even patio surfaces also prevent rippling or buckling issues down the road.

Laying Out Weed Barriers for Confined Areas

Patio areas are often confined spaces surrounded by walls or fences. This makes weed invasion from below a bigger concern since there are more edges for them to sneak through, especially if the installation site isn’t properly prepared.

Using heavy-duty weed barrier fabric tailored to fit the patio’s shape seals the entire area from encroaching weeds. It also blocks sunlight and prevents roots from taking hold under the turf.

Designing a Special Drainage System for Patio Turf

Drainage is a major concern with artificial grass on patios and similar hardscaping. Without it, excess moisture can cause issues like mold and mildew, unpleasant odors, and even compromise the patio hardscape itself.

Unlike artificial grass over soil, patio surfaces cannot be compacted and spread with aggregate. Instead, we typically use drainage tiles laid out over the patio and under the turf. This creates air pockets where water can drain through without taking away from the look and feel of patio turf.

Perimeter drainage gaps also need to be left between the patio surface and any walls or posts. This ensures water doesn’t get trapped on the outer edges and undermine the turf.

Using the Right Artificial Grass for Patios

The quality of the artificial turf itself impacts how real it looks and its durability. Dense, soft-feeling grass made from polyethylene or nylon fibers lasts longer than basic polypropylene. Matching the color tones to your patio environment also creates a seamless effect and makes the turf look even more natural.

Properly cutting seams and outlines helps maintain the illusion. The direction of the grain should also be considered based on furniture placement, the angle of the sun, and other existing elements of your landscape.

Bring Your Patio to Life with Artificial Grass

Converting a patio into an artificial grass oasis takes careful planning and execution, but the end result makesresults make it well worth the investment.

PETS

Deep-cleaning artificial turf for dogs is good practice if your pets go potty in your yard. You don’t have to do it very often, but doing it on a regular schedule makes it easier to keep your backyard clean, sanitary, and free from bad smells.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process, from how to know when it’s time for a deep clean to what you’ll need and other tips.

Know When It’s Time for a Deep Clean

Your artificial grass may be due for a deep clean if you start noticing these signs:

  • Strong pet odors emanating from the turf, even after spot cleaning
  • Artificial grass fibers excessively matted down or discolored, especially in potty areas
  • Infill appears darker or dirty

Since it can take some time before these signs become obvious, inspect your yard every month or so.

Deep Cleaning Artificial Pet Turf: What You Need

Moreover, having the right artificial grass cleaning tools and solutions on hand will make the process easier and more effective. Here’s what you’ll need:

Cleaning Tools

  • Stiff Bristle Push Broom or Outdoor Broom
  • Garden Hose with Pressurized Nozzle
  • Bucket
  • Scrub Brush with Stiff Bristles
  • Terry Cloth Rags
  • Spray Bottle for Spot Cleaning and Pre-Treating

Cleaning Solutions

You have several options here, including all-natural cleaning agents:

  • Mild Detergent
  • Dish Soap
  • 1:1 Mixture of  Water and White Vinegar
  • Pet Enzyme Cleaner
  • Artificial Turf Cleaner
  • Baking Soda Paste

Step-by-Step Guide to Deep Cleaning Artificial Grass

Follow these steps to thoroughly deep clean and deodorize artificial turf used by dogs:

1. Remove Debris and Solid Waste

Pick up any visible dog waste or debris like toys and fallen leaves and dispose properly. This will prevent objects from obstructing the cleaning process.

2. Pre-Treat Urine Spots and Stains

Locate any urine spots or stains and spray them liberally with an enzyme cleaner specially formulated to break down uric acid crystals. Allow it to soak in for 5-10 minutes. This pretreating will boost cleaning effectiveness.

3. Sweep the Turf

Use a stiff push broom to sweep debris free of the grass blades down to the infill layer. Sweep in multiple directions. Furthermore, this agitation helps loosen deposits.

4. Scrub with Detergent

In a bucket, dilute detergent with water. Use a stiff scrub brush dipped in the solution to scrub the artificial grass fibers. Additionally, apply light pressure and scrub the entire surface. Focus on high traffic areas and stains.

5. Rinse Thoroughly

Connect a garden hose to a high pressure nozzle. Rinse away all dirt, debris, detergent residue, and grime that was lifted by scrubbing. Furthermore, check for any remaining debris or stains and re-scrub as needed.

6. Dislodge and Rinse Infill.

Use pressurized water to blast infill material free of compacted dirt, debris, and grime. Rake gently with a push broom to further dislodge. Rinse until water runs clear. Let dry completely, then brush to redistribute the infill evenly.

7. Deodorize With Vinegar.

For a simple odor-removal booster, spray white vinegar lightly across the turf. Simultaneously, the acid neutralizes odors. Allow to fully dry.

8. Fluff Fibers.

Once fully dry, use a push broom to fluff up the fibers so they stand upright again. Conversely, rake against the grain direction.

9. Spot Clean as Needed.

Check for any remaining stains or soiled areas and spot clean as needed using a scrub brush and appropriate cleaning solution. Subsequently, let dry fully before allowing pets back on.

Following this thorough deep cleaning routine will keep your artificial grass looking pristine and odor-free!

If you’re thinking of investing in artificial turf landscaping, especially in an area where kids will play, you may want to look into adding a foam padding underneath for extra safety and comfort. Is foam padding  right for your project? Here’s what you need to  consider:

What Are Foam Pads for Artificial Grass?

Foam pads for artificial turf are made from closed-cell polyethylene foam or polyurethane foam. It gets installed underneath the artificial grass itself. The pads add some “give” to the synthetic turf, enhancing the natural grass-like feel. When you walk, run, or play on turf with foam padding, you get a soft, slightly springy sensation underfoot that makes the surface more forgiving.

High-quality foam pads have small holes throughout the material to allow drainage so water doesn’t pool. Tiny perforations can be present or horizontal slits/channels. Some pads feature vertical airflow channels on the bottom side to prevent moisture buildup underneath.

Why Add a Foam Pad Under Artificial Grass?

While foam pads are optional, they offer some great benefits that make them worth considering.

Enhanced Safety & Injury Prevention

The additional cushioning provided by the shock pad helps absorb impact from falls, reducing the risk of injuries. Kids can take tumbles and land on a forgiving surface rather than something hard. This is especially useful in playgrounds, recreational areas, and landscapes where children will play and roughhouse. The foam helps prevent minor bumps and scrapes that can happen during play.

Better Comfort & Feel

Along with safety, foam pads greatly improve how the artificial turf feels underfoot, making it more comfortable to walk, play, exercise, and lay on. The extra cushioning makes it more natural and grass-like, without that hard “fake grass” sensation. It’s a lot nicer to kick off your shoes and walk barefoot on padded turf. The foam provides a little “give” with each step, reducing fatigue compared to solid surfaces.

Noise Reduction

An added perk is that foam pads can noticeably reduce noise from footsteps and activity on the turf. The foam dampens contact noise and absorbs vibration. This helps keep things quieter for nearby homes. Less stomping noise makes for happier neighbors.

Extends the Life of Turf

The foam pad adds an extra layer of protection underneath the turf backing to help prevent premature wear and tear. By cushioning the contact points, the pad reduces friction that can degrade the blades and backing over time. Properly installed, shock pads can extend the usable lifespan of the grass.

Levels Out Minor Imperfections

Small dips, bumps, rocks, and inconsistencies in the base get smoothed out by the foam layer underneath. This allows for a flatter, more even installation over mildly irregular surfaces. The foam compensates for inconsistencies up to around 1/2″ in height.

Helps with Drainage

Since most foam pads have perforations throughout the material, they don’t retain water and allow it to drain through. This improves drainage compared to installing turf directly on a solid surface like concrete where water can pool on top.

What Types of Installations Benefit from a Foam Pad?

Foam pads are great for:

  • Playgrounds – Provides critical fall safety for kids playing and prevents scraped knees. Allows safe play over hard surfaces.
  • Recreational Spaces – Cushions sports fields, batting cages, and golf practice areas. Absorbs impact from balls, equipment, and players. Reduces injuries and fatigue.
  • High Foot Traffic Zones – Prolongs life of turf in busy areas like events spaces, trade show floors or commercial landscapes. Withstands frequent use without flattening.
  • Noise Sensitive Locations – Helps reduce noise from activity that may bother nearby homes, businesses, hospitals, etc.

Foam pads generally aren’t necessary for decorative lawns or landscapes that won’t get heavy recreational use. They also aren’t ideal for putting greens or areas where you want maximum ball roll.

Get the FieldTurf Advantage

Not sure if you need foam pads for your artificial grass installation? Our FieldTurf Landscape experts can help you decide whether they’re the right choice for your project. And if they are, we can also recommend the right type and thickness of shock pad for your unique needs and landscape goals.

TURF TIPS

A lush, green lawn is the pride and joy of many homeowners, but it can quickly turn into a nightmare due to various turf diseases. Unlike natural grass, however, artificial grass for backyard is impervious to these diseases. But just how resistant is artificial grass for your yard compared to natural grass? Take a look:

How Does Natural Grass Catch Turf Diseases?

Introducing you to turf diseases begins with understanding how natural grass falls prey to them. Conditions such as moisture levels, temperature, and lawn care practices play significant roles in triggering these diseases.

Moisture Levels

Excessive moisture trapped within the grass blades encourages the growth of harmful fungi and bacteria. This can occur due to overwatering, poor drainage, or environmental conditions like heavy rainfall, and creates an ideal breeding ground for disease-causing microorganisms.

Temperature

Turf diseases such as Dollar Spot or Red Thread are temperature-dependent, thriving in conditions between 60°F and 85°F. Any drastic change in temperature can cause stress to the grass, making it more susceptible to diseases.

Lawn Care Practices

Improper lawn maintenance, including poor mowing habits, incorrect fertilization, and inadequate aeration, can weaken the grass and open the gate for various diseases. For example, when grass is cut too short, it has less energy for growth and fights off diseases less effectively.

Devastating Turf Diseases in Yards

Turf diseases can be remarkably destructive, leading to unsightly patches and major damage to the yard. Take a look at some of the most common turf diseases and their implications:

Brown Patch

Brown patch lives up to its name, causing large, circular brown patches to appear on your lawn. It loves heat and high humidity, making it a common summertime disease.

Pythium Blight

Also known as “grease spot,” Pythium blight can wipe out a lawn practically overnight in the right conditions – primarily hot, wet weather. It starts as small, darkened patches that rapidly enlarge in a short period.

Dollar Spot

Dollar spot creates small, silver dollar-sized spots scattered throughout your yard. Given its nature, it can merge multiple spots into larger, sprawling patches of dead grass.

Red Thread

As the name implies, Red Thread disease appears as red threads wrapping around the grass blades, eventually turning them red or pink. It’s a common issue in cool, wet weather.

Snow Mold

A cold-season disease, snow mold appears as straw-colored patches with a pink or gray moldy appearance when the snow melts in spring.

These diseases not only ruin the look of your yard, but they also can take a lot of time, effort, and money to control or eradicate. In severe cases, it might require complete lawn reinstallation.

Artificial Grass Is Impervious to Turf Diseases

One of the best ways to avoid turf disease-related troubles is to opt for artificial grass for the backyard. Here’s why diseases can’t infect it:

No Organic Material

Artificial grass is made from synthetic fibers, primarily polyethylene, polypropylene, and nylon. Unlike natural grass, it doesn’t provide the organic material necessary for microorganisms, such as bacteria and fungi, to thrive.

In natural grass, the decaying organic matter, like dead leaves and roots, invites disease-causing microorganisms that break down the materials. The absence of such organic debris in artificial turf eliminates this potential hazard.

Temperature Resistant

Artificial grass retains its color and structural integrity regardless of temperature changes. This durability means that it doesn’t experience stress or weaken like natural grass during extreme temperature changes.

The growth cycles of natural grass are highly temperature-dependent: certain species thrive in cooler or warm temperatures. This sensitivity can leave natural grass vulnerable during the transition periods between different seasons. Artificial turf doesn’t have the same issue.

Reduced Maintenance

Artificial grass for the backyard Is a breeze to maintain, providing several advantages in the quest to avoid turf diseases.Eliminating the need for mowing prevents the risk of spreading diseases commonly associated with mowing equipment or poor mowing practices. Likewise, removing the need for aeration, which helps natural grass suffering from compacted soil, prevents similar issues.

Keep Your Yard Free of Turf Diseases

Artificial grass offers a simple solution to the endless battle between your beautiful lawn and frustrating turf diseases. By choosing it, you can enjoy a hassle-free, immaculate green yard regardless of the season, free from the threats these diseases pose.

POOL

Taking off your shoes and diving into the inviting waters of a swimming pool is one of the great joys of summer. However, dealing with slippery poolside surfaces leading to falls or injuries can be a nasty surprise. How can we make the pool surroundings a safer and more comfortable experience? Artificial grass around the pool holds the answer to your problem.

The Discomfort of Wet Feet

After your refreshing swim, your feet are wet and your skin is wrinkled – conditions that heighten sensitivity and can put you at greater risk of injury. A poolside that isn’t designed well can lead to a variety of discomforts and hazards, such as:

  • Slips and Falls: Wet feet have less traction, making slips and falls more likely on slick surfaces.
  • Hot Surfaces: Some materials absorb and retain heat, making the ground unbearably hot to walk on, especially during peak summer months.
  • Rough Textures: Rough or uneven surfaces can cause pain or discomfort to soft, wrinkled skin and may result in cuts or abrasions.
  • Allergies and Irritation: Certain materials can cause allergic reactions or irritations, particularly when feet are wet and more susceptible.

Are Common Pool Floorings Safe for Bare and Wet Feet?

Take a look at some of the most popular flooring choices around pool areas and the risks they pose to wet, bare feet:

Concrete

While it’s a common choice, it’s not exactly foot-friendly. Concrete can retain heat, making it too hot for comfort on hot days, and be slippery when wet. The surface can also be rough and uncomfortable for bare feet.

Tile or Stone

These materials can add a touch of elegance to your pool area, but are they safe? Just like concrete, tile or stone can also get very hot in the sun. Even rough-textured tiles can become slippery when wet, posing a fall risk.

Wood

Wooden decks have a natural aesthetic, but they require significant upkeep to prevent splintering, which could be an issue for bare feet. They can also get slippery with water and algae growth.

Artificial Grass Is Safe for Bare Feet

Unlike traditional poolside materials, artificial grass provides a safe, comfortable surface for bare feet. Here’s how:

Slip Resistance

High-quality artificial grass around the pool provides a grippy, slip-resistant surface, even when wet. This quality drastically reduces the risk of poolside falls and injuries caused by slipping, a testament to its safety.

Temperature Neutrality

Artificial grass is considerably cooler underfoot during hot days. It doesn’t retain heat like concrete or stone, reducing the risk of burns and ensuring comfort.

Soft, Comfortable Texture

Artificial grass around the pool feels soft and comfortable even for the most sensitive skin types—No rough textures causing discomfort or cuts and abrasions when walking on it.

Allergen-Free

Artificial turf is non-allergenic because it doesn’t produce pollen. It’s unlikely to cause allergic reactions or irritations, making it an excellent option for sensitive pool users.

GOLF

Whether you’re a golf enthusiast looking to practice your shots or a homeowner planning the perfect backyard leisure spot, the best artificial putting green is an incredible addition to any home. It’s a breeze to maintain and offers the perfect ball for games. It also handles temperature changes without sustaining damage, unlike natural turf. Here’s why:

Hot and Dry Temperatures

Natural putting greens wilt and brown in hot and dry temperatures because they need a lot of water and expert care to stay healthy. These conditions can also lead to harder ground, which can drastically affect the roll of the golf ball.

High-quality artificial grass is designed to withstand such extreme temperatures. Made from UV-protected synthetic materials, artificial turfs retain their lush, green appearance all year round, without requiring water or maintenance attention.

While the surface may heat up under intense sunlight, new technologies have led to the development of heat and light-reflective artificial grasses that stay cooler – making your putting green comfortable even on hot days.

Humid Temperatures

In humid temperatures, natural greens can be a breeding ground for mold, mildew, and other plant diseases—creating extra care requirements and negatively impacting the grass’s health and look.

The best artificial putting green, however, thrives in humid climates. It doesn’t support the growth of mold or mildew, thus ensuring a lush, green lawn regardless of the humidity level. The turf is designed with innovative drainage systems that quickly remove any surface water, allowing you to enjoy your game even after a downpour.

Cool or Moderate Temperatures

Cool or moderate temperatures are typically ideal for natural grass growth. However, these conditions can still necessitate regular care, including weeding, mowing, and fertilization, to maintain a good quality putting green.

Backyard artificial putting greens require minimal upkeep. They maintain color and structural integrity, allowing for a consistent, high-performance surface. The texture and bounce of the ball remain exceedingly consistent in artificial turf, regardless of the cool or moderate temperatures.

Freezing Temperatures

Freezing temperatures and snow can cause natural grass to go into a state of dormancy, look brown and unattractive, and even die in severe conditions.

On the flip side, the best artificial putting green can withstand freezing temperatures without damage. The surface might harden due to frost or snow, but it will quickly return to its regular state once it thaws. This advantage allows you to enjoy your backyard putting green even during cold winter months.

Embrace the Joys of a Weather-Resistant Putting Green

From scorching summers to bone-chilling winters, temperature changes can indeed pose significant challenges to maintaining a flawless, natural putting green. In contrast, high-quality artificial putting greens offer a durable, low-maintenance, and year-round green solution that seems almost impervious to temperature shifts.

If you’re considering installing an artificial putting green that can beat the weather odds, our team at Field Turf Landscape is ready to guide you through the process. Contact us today online or by phone at  866-352-4575 for a free consultation. Let us help you create the perfect putting green that withstands all temperature conditions.
